Established in 1880 as a “school for wayward boys”, Alpha Institute became renowned for both the discipline it instilled in its pupils and the outstanding musical tuition they received. Alpha Institute focuses on educational and vocational training for inner city unattached youth. The school has been credited with influencing the development of ska and reggae.
Ska Cares is a double record tribute to the school and its legendary alumni. It features 24 tracks from ska bands from 18 different countries all over the world, who have been influenced by the legacy of this institute. All proceeds go to benefit the Alpha Institute’s continued service to inner city youth and generous contributions to the world of music.
