Amplifying Talent is an educational and workforce development initiative created by Supernova Alliance, the nonprofit arm of the Supernova International Ska Festival, to give students hands-on experience in live music production, media, and event management.
Launched in partnership with the DeMatteo Foundation and Hampton University, the program connects classroom learning with real-world industry experience. Students receive professional training in live-streaming, sound, camera operation, and content production while working side-by-side with the festival’s production and media teams during Supernova weekend.
Amplifying Talent students from Hampton University ran the livestream at the 2025 Supernova International Ska Festival livestream in September. The livestream reached fans in 40 states and 15 countries.
Hands-On Training: Students join the Supernova production crew to assist with camera setup and livestream direction.
Professional Mentorship: Guided by industry experts from Establishment Media, Supernova’s technical team, and partner organizations, students gain behind-the-scenes insight into what it takes to produce a world-class live event.
Real Deliverables: Students help produce and broadcast live performances for a global audience through platforms like Veeps.com, contributing to a multi-camera, professional-grade production.
Skill Development: The program focuses on practical skills — from AV setup and broadcast production to creative storytelling and teamwork — that prepare students for careers in music, media, and entertainment.
Amplifying Talent isn’t just about skills — it’s about access and opportunity.
By connecting students from historically Black universities and underserved communities to real professional experiences, the program helps build a more inclusive and diverse future for the live music and entertainment industry.
