A central initiative of Supernova Alliance is the Amplifying Talent: Connecting Youth Through Music and Mentorship project. Developed in partnership with staff and students at Hampton University, this program provides students with hands-on training in live audio, video production, and digital media by working directly alongside professional production teams. Pairing students with six industry professionals like Mike DeMatteo (The Amazing Race, SuperNanny), the program provides a cross‑cultural, professional level training. Participants gain real-world experience in livestream broadcasting, event production, and content creation—building skills that translate directly into careers in the growing creative economy.
Hands-On Training: Students join the Supernova production crew to assist with camera setup and livestream direction.
Professional Mentorship: Guided by industry experts from Establishment Media, Supernova’s technical team, and partner organizations, students gain behind-the-scenes insight into what it takes to produce a world-class live event.
Real Deliverables: Students help produce and broadcast live performances for a global audience through platforms like Veeps.com, contributing to a multi-camera, professional-grade production.
Skill Development: The program focuses on practical skills — from AV setup and broadcast production to creative storytelling and teamwork — that prepare students for careers in music, media, and entertainment.
Amplifying Talent isn’t just about skills — it’s about access and opportunity. By connecting students from historically Black universities and underserved communities to real professional experiences, the program helps build a more inclusive and diverse future for the live music and entertainment industry.
